Severe Service™ Ride Control products are engineered for emergency, municipal fleet and construction uses. These gas-charged, extra-durable Monroe® shock absorbers feature strengthened components for superior stability and ride control in the toughest applications. Durable Severe Service™ shock absorbers have a larger bore for greater working capacity and arc-welded mounts for higher tensile strength.

  • Robust hydraulic lock-out: Prevents over-extension of the suspension, top-out of the piston and averts damage to the seal assembly – on most applications
  • PTFE coated bearing: Reduces friction during operation between the rod and rod guide, improving durability – on most applications
  • Tenneco shouldered bushings: Shouldered bushing and bonded bushing with sleeve designs prevent (bushing walkout) for improved quality and durability – on most applications
  • Nitrogen gas-charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration
  • Loop welding technique: Provide up to 14,100 lbs. (6,395 kg) tensile strength for maximum durability
  • 2-inch (50.8 mm) reserve tube: More fluid for more consistent performance – on most applications
  • 1-3/8-inch (35 mm) bore: Larger bore than most shocks to provide more efficient and consistent control – on most applications
  • 5/8-inch (16 mm) diameter piston rod: Nitrocarburized design more environmentally friendly, maintaining chrome structural benefits, without affecting durability or use life of the rod. Sintered iron design allows for more precise piston dimensions, requiring no additional components for exceptional fit – on most applications
  • .05-inch pressure tube withstanding pressure of 9KPSI – On most applications
  • 10-stage valving: Reacts to wide range of driving conditions – on most applications
