I have used numerous air support systems, THEY are all maintenance intensive. Air shocks and Air Bags.
Firestone air bags don’t last any longer than Air-Lift bags.
I have had both sets on my 4WD 4Runners, one 3rd Gen. 95′ Limited and one 00′ SR5 4th Gen.
I will say Air-Lift would warranty their red air bags with no questions asked, the 95 has had to have 3 sets (the 1st set they sold me the wrong Gen bags). Even when my brother bought vehicle from me (meaning not original purchaser of bag kit) Air-Lift warrantied the bags NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
Firestone Coil-Rites, OMG, I have never heard so many excuses for a “Limited Warranty” in my life.
Don’t WASTE the $100 + SAME LABOR $$, Unless you like constantly maintaining bag air pressure, got a compressor with you when needed or like removing air bags from coil springs every 5 years, don’t waste the labor cost to install these systems. They are problematic and temporary fixes solutions at best.
Go for the Extra load springs and the longer shocks unless you are carrying constant loads that keep the rear of vehicle down 2+ inches into the 2″ lift the HD springs create. Put Downey HD coils on 95′ to fix it & now looking at real mechanical solution for 97′ & 00′ 4th Gens. HD coils will be my MAINTENANCE FREE route.
