Long Travel 2.5-4″ Bilstein 5100 Rear Shocks 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner
Long Travel Bilstein 5100 Rear Shocks for 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 Toyota 4Runner
Part: 9602E703
Includes: 2 Shocks (Qty 2 of 33-313146 (old: 33-187174) )
These are long travel rear Bilstein 5100 series shocks outfitted to work with your 3rd Gen 4Runner and should only be used with long rear lift coil springs.
If NOT used with coil springs at least as 2.5-4″ long a coils, you will need to hard mount your internal spring bump stops, mount your rear springs to the axle perch, and extend the axle bumps. There is a high possibility of spitting a spring at full droop if you use too short of a coil spring in back.
We still advise checking full compression and droop after install to determine if your 4Runner needs to be bump stopped or if any other mods need to be made to any ABS or brake lines.
The installation of a longer rear brake line is required with these rear shocks.
Includes 2 Shocks

Good long travel shocks for the price, great extension and compression on my 3gen t4r with lc8 wraps in the rear. Otherwise you’d probably spit a spring at full droop. Good simple cost effective option if on a budget build before buying 2.5 resevior shocks. Running icon 2.5 in front with spca uca’s.

These worked well with my 2000 4-Runner
With 890 Old man Emu springs by Toytec and Bilstein 5100 ln the front with Toytec 3″ coil lift.

Have old emu rear springs for 3” lift and spacers in front. Along with the bilsteins this is as close to riding smooth you can get with a toyota. Never had a shock actually handle rebound alright with non reservoirs. Makes me wish I would have coughed up the money for their other ones that are adjustable with reservoirs . Also regarding old emu springs. They took the tome to ensure it was 100% going to lift the rear 3” because eBay, Amazon, and every other place selling spacers for the rear as well as springs only lifted 1-2” while saying (3” lift”). This website has their customer service, shipping, and everything a Toyota guy could ask for dialed in

Absolutely one of the best shocks out there for the money. I only got my rear shocks in so far, still waiting in the fronts. Which is convenient because my old rear shock broke so the rears were what I really needed. So far loving them and the guys at bilstein lifts are awesome. Answered my questions really fast when I wasn’t sure if it was the correct ones. Bottom line if your thinking about getting some do it.

I have a 1998 sas 4Runner and I’m running 8 wrap LC coils In the rear with these shocks and I’m super impressed with how well they do down the road but also on the trail, stiff and stable on the road (still smooth) but also super flexy on the trails. Would highly recommend.

Bought to install on my 1997 4runner limited 4×4 w/ factory Elocker. the top shock mount and bushing did not fit into the OEM cut out. The kit and Instructions provide the mount and bushings for a 03-09 and 2010+ which is not within the year range 1996-02.. not sure what happened. Not sure if 4×4, factory Elocker, or limited affect rear shock bushing diameter but they did not fit. Good quality tho.
