  1. Morgan

Great product, the ride (4runner) is amazing, rears come with bushings, fronts do not. Other than that very pleased, fast shipping, no damaged parts due to mispacking

  2. Rebecca

I put these on my 2017 TRD OFF road premium (which is the trail) 4runner to allow for a bigger tire, and with these I was able to squeeze a 285/70/17 (33’s) Toyo Open Country under, but there is a little bit of rub when compressed at a full turn. Rides perfect now, but I plan to lift in the future and the tech said I can still use these with the lift kit.

  3. Dan

Great product!!! The shocks were shipped the same day of the purchase and they were at my door in two days. Perfect fit. This is my second set of shocks I bought from Bilstein and I my continue to do business with them

  4. Neto

Great pricing from bilsteinlifts.com and the shipping was SUPER quick. Installed my lift about 3 days ago and am VERY happy with the results. Did 2.5″ up front with stock springs and 1.5″ rear spacer. My caster was maxed out at .5º but I was very surprised at how well the truck handles. I would say it drives the same as stock but about 10-15% stiffer which is preferred .

  5. jleto1017

I ordered the Bilstein 5100’s and 1.5″ rear spacers and the order was sent to me separately but very quick (3 days at my door). I got an email from these guys letting me know it was going to be shipped separately which was a cool heads up. I haven’t installed these yet but will follow up with pics and review once installed.

  6. Kris Gutierrez

Extremely happy with this set up. Bilsteinlifts.com had the best pricing compared to other places I looked, and as everyone else has mentioned, the shipping was super quick. I installed this on my 2016 4Runner Trail Premium (2.5” in the front with stock coils and a 1.5” Daystar rear spacer), which allowed me to run bigger tires (285/70/17) with only minor trimming needed. The ride and the looks are a definite improvement from the stock set up.

  7. AErdley

Wow, what a difference! Wish I had put these on 40K miles ago.

We were about to get rid of our 5th gen 4Runner because the it had the responsiveness of a boat. It had tons of body roll in corners and ridiculous nose dive when braking. Had the 5100 kit installed about a week ago. Set the front @ 1.75 and added a 1.5″ spacer to the rear. It’s like a completely different truck. The progressive factory springs still provide a comfortable ride, but the shocks greatly improved the handling.

  8. Andrew

Put on my 2018 4 runner before I drove the vehicle away from the dealer! I set the fronts at 1.75 and used 1″ rear spacers from Cornfed Suspensions. This setup is fantastic. The on road driveability is superb!! Off road the 5g4r is even better!!! I will have Bilsteins on everything I own forever!

  9. Rock

This is the most economical yet effective mod you can do to improve the look and handling of your 4runner. I had them installed at 1.75″ in front and a 1″ spacer in the rear. This retained some of the factory rake which will help when the rear is loaded down. I stayed with stock size tires – 265/70R/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. It now looks more aggressive and is more capable than stock. I noticed that brake dive is virtually non-existant and body roll has been greatly diminished. I would 100% recommend this product. Hey Bilstein, for this positive review, would you please send me a set of rear springs so I can get rid of the spacer? 🙂

  10. Dennis

Stop thinking about it and buy these 5100 series shocks for your 5th gen Trail. Stock ride height maintained, nose dive gone. Feels like real suspension. Currently at approx. 65k miles. Thanks for the fast shipping!

  11. Mario

Great products!, great price! fast shipping! Installed 5100 lift kit with front set to 2.5 lift with 1.5″ rear spacer on my sr5. Did a front diff drop as well. Looks amazing now! like it should have. no more silly factory rake. Ride is stiffer but I love it. Handles much better. No more squishy ride. No more body roll on corners. No more nose dives when braking. my stock sr5 tires do not look bad either. May keep it. Doing my upgrades piecemeal for now. Only suggestion crank your low beams way down afterwards. They were too high up. No regrets! TY bilsteinlifts! All the mechanics at the Toyota dealer were in awe with kit and price. I sent them to your website. Peace. 🙂

  12. Andrew Rubey

Best upgrade ever! This is my third 5th gen 4runner and all of them have the 5100 kit. 1.75″ setting in the front with 1″ Corn fed spacers in the rear. I can not stress how great this setup is!!!

  13. Jon

2012 4runner 265x70x17 – Purchased the 5100’s (front/rear) and set the coils at .85″. Factory coils front/rear – end result was almost perfectly level with a more stable feel/control when cornering. Pay attention to the spring bucket, make sure it’s not upside down. This will cause extreme lift and force you to compress your coils further than needed which compromises your safety. Lets just say third time was the charm. I ran these on my third gen maxed at 2.5″ and was super please as well. Definitely recommend this product.

  14. Pawel

Awesome product. BILSTEIN stands for the quality and appearance of their products.

Arrived quickly, nicely & safely packaged. Easy installation, great effect. I ve chose leveling for 4 runner so first lift of 0.85 inch. Ride quality improved drastically, way better handling, no nose dive anymore, stable in corners. Great product. Happy with my choice.

  15. Todd Richards

I put the Bilstein 5100s on my 2016 4Runner. I put the front shocks at the full 2.5 inch lift, back looks perfect too. I think it looks best this way, with the proper tires of course. I went with the BF Goodrich AT KO2 P285/70R17. The stance and ride after install really brought my truck back to life. You cant go wrong with the adjustable 5100s, especially for the price and the fast easy shipment!!

  16. Colin

What an improvement to the ride and handling of my 4runner. Best bang for the buck upgrade there is.

  17. Raine Harkins

After getting these shocks installed and new tires my 5th gen is a whole different truck! I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a little lift and a major ride improvement over stock.

  18. Blaise Dowe

Received my “box” of 4 shocks yesterday. Basically they took 4 shock boxes and clear wrapped them together. One of them came open on the end and a shock was sticking out. Would it be too much trouble to put them in a box? I have yet to install so we shall see.

  19. Ethan

I have not installed yet, but the super fast shipping deserves 5 stars. I picked the regular shipping option and received the product within 2 days.

  20. Ben

They ride great. Had 2”/3” front and rear spacers and did the first notch ‘0.85” average lift’ on the front shocks.

  21. Frank

Purchased 2019 4Runner 4WD last year. Love the vehicle but the stock shocks were so soft and spongy that I truly contemplated trading it in this year. Hard cornering and sudden stops would cause the vehicle to bounce back and forth several times like a see-saw. Installed a set of 4 of these adjustable Bilstein shocks and they are exactly what I wanted. Truck drives nice and firm – very planted for an SUV when cornering and stopping. Ride is still very comfortable with the stock coils springs. I kept it at stock height. Highly recommend. They were delivered in just a few days after ordering with no problems.

  22. William Askew

To start, I ordered this lift from Bilstein Lift and that process was flawless. I received good tracking updates, billing was correct, and today’s e-commerce world that was nice. I just installed it on my wife’s 4Runner this week in conjunction with a little heavier coil for 2” of rear lift. I set the front at 2 1/2” and it resulted with there still being some natural rake in the front. The most noticeable part of making the switch was the ride quality. I’ve never been impressed with the stock ride of any stock 4Runner but am well pleased with it now. I like a firmer ride with a vehicle that we use for towing a small camper and riding on the beach. I install many different lifts for people and recommend Bilstein in most applications and this product solidifies my faith in recommending them.

  23. michael bobson bangura

Quick advice; I’ve 5100 Bilstein for my 2003 4Runner with an X-tra system v6 (4WD) . I’ve in mind to go with with 2 inches just to leveling the rig. Do I need rear spring ( no towing/extra load) for this setup? Can I fit tires size 265/70/r17 with any issues? I do have Rocktrix wheels 17/9 with -12 offset. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

  24. Louie

I ordered the Bilstein 5100 front and rear struts for my 2014 4Runner Limited. It had the XREA’s suspension which I didn’t know when I purchased the vehicle, silly me. Just like everyone else I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars to have an suspension that is darn near equivalent to conventional shocks and many many 4Runner forums highly recommended the 5100 setup. I can see why. I am glad I ordered from Bilsteinlifts.com as well. Outrageously fast shipping, quicker than Prime! Items came with all the hardware needed, packaging and shocks were free of defects, and looked great. Install was straightforward, just follow the video, use the spring compressor the right way and make sure to put the spring seat in the correct way! I didn’t have the luxury of an impact to tighten the spring compressor bolts but it wasn’t too much work. The ride is much better, you feel stable and in control, my 4Runner handles curves, potholes, speed bumps, and braking great. Overall I am very pleased from beginning to end and will recommend anyone to order from Bilsteinlifts.com. I know I will be when the time comes.

  25. RamS2k

2015 4Runner Limited. My xreas shocks were blown, so I got these. Easy install. Disconnected the connecting lines and just zip-tied them to the side. Work well with the OEM springs. Car drives better than ever. More stable when cornering. Car is responsive. Best purchase ever

  26. So far so good

Relieved both shocks. Look very well built. Installed the rear waiting for some free time to install the front.

  27. Austin P

Great Pricing and the ride is much better now on my 2021 TRD ORP. I set the front to .85” lift and stock in the rear and it sits perfect. The shipping is quick as well.

  28. Dimcuda

Great product for a great price. Suspension is definitely improved even over the 4Runner Limited’s fancy shocks. I am very happy.

I put on new wheels with Duratrac 275/65/R18’s and had a small amount of rub up front. I did the Bilsteins with 1.75″ up front to bring my vehicle more level and got rid of the rub!

  29. Shawn Mendenhall

I installed on a 2014 4Runner. It is a significant improvement over stock
shocks and was not hard to install. This is not my first set of Bilsteins and they are a high quality product. I installed these with 2.5″ of lift on the front as I had previously installed a lift on the 4Runner.

  30. Conner Isom

Great product with an easy install for my 2019 4runner sr5. Im not super mechanically inclined and was able to complete front and rear in the same day! Will definitely recommend!!

  31. John Lopez

I installed the bilstein 5100s front and rear on my 2016 4Runner 4×4 premium this weekend. 1.75” front and 1” cornfed spacer rear. It looks fantastic! I have OE wheels 17×7 factory offset on BF Goodrich KO2s all terrains. I’ll upgrade to 275s on the next set, but for now, I couldn’t be more pleased! Nose dive is gone while braking. Ride is stiffer, but comfortable.

  32. Peter

5th generation Toyota 4runner rides times better. Love it. Front set 1.75 with 3/4″ cornfed in the rear. Did it in my garage over the weekend, not difficult, watched some youtube how to videos. Worth every penny.

  33. Jerry Givens

I ordered SKU- fj4rbilk10 on July 31. I got my rear shocks in 4 days, but my front shocks hasn’t come in yet. Please help me, thank you. Jerry givens

  34. Gary S.

Just installed the Bilstein 5100’s to replace OEM shocks & struts on a 2012 4Runner SR5 and the vehicle rides better than it did new. If you’re installing struts yourself, you will need spring compressors to be able to safely disassemble the OEM struts and move the springs to the Bilsteins. Only took 3 days from order to delivery, great communication of order status and tracking,

  35. Ashley Hook

Excellent product and easy to install!

  36. Alyssa Heinrich

Love how easy the installation and look on my 2021 4Runner!

  37. John Flowers-Long

I have a 2015 4Runner Limited and the struts and shock do not go with my vehicle although it is advertised that the 5100 Bilstien fit 4Runners 2010-2022… wasted time and money.., waiting on my full refund… $462 refund please and thank u

  38. Paul Borders

Ordered a set of 5100’s for a 2017 4Runner SR5 on the Sunday before Christmas. Small glitch in delivery address was responded to and handled promptly by customer service. Got the rears on Wednesday and fronts on Thursday before Christmas. Rears took a couple of hours to install. Fronts took about 4 hours not rushing. Lifted spring one notch. Strongly recommend removing the front skidplate and disconnecting links on both sides of anti-sway bar for installation.
Ride is slightly harsher on small irregularities on pavement. Ride is better over larger bumps. Overall handling and control much improved. Off pavement TBD, but I expect to be improved.

  39. Blake Schreck

I couldn’t be happier with these Bilstein shocks. The difference in ride is like night and day and the FJ takes bumps whoops no problem.
…and I’m just as happy with bilsteinlifts.com – super fast shipping.

  40. ADI NESHEWAIT

Front washers didn’t come with the kit. Do i need to use bottom washers on front shocks?

  41. jerome confesor

Have it on my 5th gen 4runner. Great product. Very smooth ride. Very Satisfied with it.

  42. Jeff fowler

Kit looks good. Definitely got 3 inches using OME springs. But beware you may need new upper control arms if you do use OME springs !! Rides better and cut nose dive out !

  43. Tim Schultz

Shipping and delivery was super fast and shopping through suspension lifts was fantastic.

I knew the billsteins were good shocks for what I needed. But this place got them to me fast and I didn’t have to wait a lead time like a lot of other places.

  44. MICHAEL SALINAS

Perfect fit for my ’20 SR5 Premium. Did 0.85″ front, and O” rear. Truck is now level with “factory rake.” Nose dive and “floaty” suspension feeling gone! Fast ship, great price, and awesome customer service!!! Now going to buy a set for my ’04 Tundra SR5 Access Cab!

  45. Edward

    Fast shipping, well packaged. 5/5

  46. Will

Bilstein 5100’s put on my 2010 GX460. Set the front shocks to the 1.75” level. The shocks went on no problem with the factory springs. I replaced the rusted factory top hats with KYB (ordered separately). The ride is superb. Keep in mind it’s on a Lexus so ride quality is important. Happy the nose dive is gone now when braking. Really happy with the Bilsteins and Suspensionlifts.com customer service.

  47. JM

Extremely happy with the product, price and fast shipping. This is a great finance friendly upgrade to the 2017 4runner. I set the front to .85” lift (second position from bottom) and stock springs and spacer in the rear. Highly recommend this upgrade.

  48. Ricardo

I can say that the Bilstein 5100s were the best purchase I have made for my 2022 4Runner. Change from a super soft suspension where the truck moved abruptly when braking or cornering to one that was firmer and easier to control. When I slow down I don’t feel like I’m learning how to drive hahaha. I raised the suspension of my 4Runner to the third option and added a one-inch spacer to the rear, now it looks higher and in a correct position, not looking up like I have seen in some.

  49. Brant

    2022 4runner off-road premium.
1.75 front and 1.5 spacer in rear made it ride level with 500# load in back.

Bilstein 5100 package made the ride much more stable. Super fast shipping. Received the next day even with the free shipping!

  50. David Schumacher

Installed on my wife’s 2023 4Runner, used the second clip down for a 2 inch lift in the front. Worked great to level the vehicle. Ended up with a 1″ rake. Make sure you have a good spring clamp to switch over the shocks.

  51. Ben

Upgrade for my 2015 T4R Limited. Over the past year, 3 out of 4 of my X-REAS shocks have failed (at 97K miles). The ride was rough, and the suspension noises were terrible.

The 5100s should be OEM. For the front, I used the “0.85” height setting, and netted a bit over 1″ of lift — it sits mostly level except for our typical lean. Street/highway driveway is much smoother and quieter now, and not at all floaty. Honestly, I think the lean and dive behaviors are as good as the X-REAS shocks, too. Low-speed, offroad behavior is much more controlled as well. This was a fantastic $450 investment.

On the 4Runner, the rear shocks can be done with one person, probably 1 hr per side. Check out the YouTube video by Driven Companion. One person -can- do the fronts, but having a buddy was helpful & safer. Check out the video by AnesthesiaDreamin. This guy shows you how to change the front shock WITHOUT A SPRING COMPRESSOR. It works, it’s safe, and it’s EASY. And it’s faster. One tip: Have your buddy push down on the LCA with his foot to help you get the shock in/out.

Issues? None related to the shocks. My vehicle lived in northern Ohio for 4 years, so a lot of the bolts were crusty and siezed. I spent hours getting some of these loose. Removing the X-REAS hardware was a pain due to the rust, but thankfully most of the fluid had already leaked out. To help with the tubing removal, get a cheap tubing cutter and remove it in pieces.

  52. Carl Meadows

Our 2019 Toyota 4Runner nosedived during breaking and was very unstable at highway speeds in windy conditions. The OEM shocks made the front of the vehicle sit 2.5 inches lower than the rear and we wanted it to sit level. After reading all the positive reviews, we decided to have the adjustable shocks installed by our local Toyota service department. They installed the shocks, adjusted the headlights, and performed a four-wheel alignment. The front shocks were set to 1.75 which leveled the vehicle to within 1/2 inch between the front and rear.
The breaking is drastically better with minimum nosedive and the 4Runner is so much more stable on the road now. It was money well spent and even the service technician commented on the high quality of the shocks and included hardware packages. If you are experiencing these same issues and do mostly highway driving, I highly recommend the Bilstein 5100 Adjustable 0-2.5’’ Lift shocks.

    • Domenick Palumbo

What do you have the rear set up on a stock height?

  53. Amber Potter

Absolutely positively LOVE these shocks!! My 18’ 4 runner had factory cross shocks and they were all leaking. Dealer quoted us $2800 to replace them. My husband is a mechanic by trade so he took the honors of cutting the cross shock lines and replaced oem shocks with these Bilstein’s using existing factory coils. We could not be happier with the results . He set fronts at the .8 mark and it added about an inch to the front end leveling her out. We will eventually boost them up when we need to buy new tires but for now she rides like a Cadillac (not quite) but you get the drift!!! Great deal for the money! We give 5 stars! And shipping was super fast!!

  54. Ryan

Great pricing. Super fast shipping. Used setting 2 on struts for 2018 4runner and raised the front very slightly. Exactly what I wanted.

  55. salinas3043

Purchased on February 28, 2023. Here we are 37,000 miles later and still rides comfortable and silky smooth.

  56. Terry Christopher

I am happy with the product. But not with suspension lifts.i was told I could get a Veterans discount on items not already marked down.and the person I spoke with said that they had the best prices.Well they don’t STAGE 3 Motorsports has the best price almost $50.00 difference. So I will be getting my product from them in the future.

  57. Eddie Hibionada

Rides alot better than what I expect. I set the ride high at 3rd settings with the ARB summit delux bumper to level the car and it did with out changing the rear springs.
